Change your email address

Type the new address, confirm it's you with your password, Google or Apple, then click the link we send there. Your email changes only after that.

  1. Select your picture (or your initials) in the top right corner to open your Profile, then select Account Settings.
  2. Select Change Email.
  3. Type the address in New email and your password in Current password, then select Send confirmation.
  4. Open the email at the new address and select its link.

Until you click that link, your old address stays in place. After that, sign in with the new address.

If you sign in with Google or Apple

If your account signs in only with Google or Apple, Change Email has no password box. Google or Apple checks that it's you instead.

  1. Select Change Email and type the address in New email.
  2. Select Continue with Google or Continue with Apple, and pick the account you sign in with here. In the desktop app, Google opens in your web browser: finish there, then come back to the app. Apple opens in a window inside the app.
  3. Open the email at the new address and select its link.

Keep signing in with Google or Apple afterwards, the same as before. Changing your address at Google or Apple doesn't change it here, so change it here too if you want our emails at the new address.

If Change Email shows a message instead of the form, add a password with Add Password and open Change Email again, or use Change Email in the web app. See I signed up with Google. Can I use a password too?.

Good to know

That email is already in use. means another account has that address. Current password is incorrect. means the password didn't match: see Forgot your password?. If it says you chose a different Google or Apple account, nothing changed: try again and pick the one you sign in with. If you see For security, sign out and sign in again before changing your email., do that, then try again straight away. Too many attempts. Try again later. means you've already asked for a confirmation email in the last minute, or five today. Check the new address for the ones already sent.
