Using the app
Finding your way around, languages, the desktop app, Staff Chat and fixing problems.
Finding your way around
- A quick tour of the appWhere the Shop, Library, Filing Cabinet, Staff Chat, notification bell and your Profile are, on a computer and on a phone.
- Let the app show you aroundShow me around tours the screen you're on and numbers each part. Under the helper's answers, a pin lights up a button, and Guide me walks you through the steps.
- Shop, Library, Filing Cabinet and Staff Chat: what each one is forThe Shop sells your planner and teacher resources, the Library holds them, the Filing Cabinet keeps your files, and Staff Chat is for your school.
- What you'll find in your ProfileYour Profile holds your account settings, language, notifications, collaborators, Recently Deleted, storage, help and the Sign out button.
- Can I use my planner on more than one device?Yes. Sign in with the same account on your computer, tablet, phone or the desktop app, and your planners and settings follow you.
Language
- Change the app's languageShow the menus, buttons and messages in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese or Italian.
- The app's language and your planner's language are separateYour app language covers menus and messages. Each planner has its own language for the words on its pages, its tabs and its PDFs.
- Which languages are available? The app and your planners come in six languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian.
- Why is the app in English when my computer isn't?The app starts in English for everyone and doesn't follow your browser or computer. Pick your language once in your Profile.
- Why are some words still in English?Planner pages follow the planner's own language, and things people typed, stickers and academic standards stay as they were written.
- Read the Help Center in your languageSigned in, the Help Center is in your app's language. Not signed in, pick one with the language button at the top right; it's saved on that device.
The desktop app
- Download the desktop app for Windows or MacGet the desktop app from the Download page: an installer for Windows, or a disk image that works on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
- Install the desktop app on WindowsOpen the installer, get past the Windows warning with More info and Run anyway, and the app installs for your account with no admin password.
- Install the desktop app on a MacOpen the downloaded disk image, drag One Stop Teacher Shop into Applications, and open it from there so it can update itself.
- Update the desktop appThe desktop app downloads updates by itself. When one is ready, choose Restart now, or it installs the next time you quit and reopen the app.
- Use the desktop app without internetThe desktop app opens and keeps your planners working with no internet. Changes save on your computer and sync when you reconnect.
- Desktop app or browser: which should I use? Both open the same account and planners. The browser needs no install; the desktop app has its own window and works without internet.
- Windows warns that the installer is an unrecognized appWindows can warn about a new installer. Click More info, check the publisher is One Stop Teacher Shop, Inc, then click Run anyway.
- My Mac says to move the app to the Applications folderThe Mac app can only update itself from Applications. Click Move to Applications on the card, and it moves itself there.
- The desktop app won't updateMost update problems come from where the app is installed. Here's what each update message means and how to get the newest version.
- Why does the desktop app say Time to update?Your copy of the desktop app is too old to keep working safely. Update it from that screen, or open the web app in the meantime.
- Sign in to the desktop appUse the same account as the website. Signing in with Google finishes in your web browser, and then you come back to the app.
- Uninstall the desktop appRemove the app in Windows Settings, or drag it to the Trash on a Mac. Your planners and files stay safe in your account.
- Can I use the desktop app on a school computer?Often yes. On Windows it installs just for your account with no admin password. Some schools block it, and the browser always works.
- Deploy the desktop app on school computers (for IT)For a school's IT team: install the Windows app for each user so it keeps itself up to date, or install it for the whole computer and update it yourselves.
