Choose which notifications you get
In Privacy & Notifications, switch each kind of email and in-app notification on or off. Your choices save right away.
- Open the bell at the top right and select the gear icon. Or open your Profile, select Account Settings, then Privacy & Notifications.
- Flip a switch to turn that kind of notification on or off. It saves right away.
Under Privacy, for Staff Chat:
- Allow Staff Chat invites: colleagues can invite you to a school by your email. Off, nobody can.
- Allow direct messages: anyone who knows your email can start a direct message with you. You can still block individual people.
Under Email & marketing:
- Email notifications: activity updates sent to your inbox.
- Marketing emails: product news, tips and seasonal offers.
Under In-app notifications, which appear in the bell:
- Push notifications: a note on your phone, even when the app is closed, about something meant for you, such as a planner shared with you, new messages in a shared planner's chat, or a reply from support. News, product updates and the community stay in the app. This switch is only in the phone app, once push notifications are available there. When you turn it on, your phone asks you first.
- Collaboration: someone shares a planner with you.
- Planner Chat: new messages in shared planners.
- News: announcements from One Stop Teacher Shop.
- Product updates: new features and improvements.
Under Staff Chat, which appear in the bell:
- Announcements: new posts on a school's bulletin board.
- Server invites: you're invited to join a school.
Under Sounds:
- Message sounds: a soft sound when a message arrives for you while the app is open, such as a new message in a shared planner's chat you don't have open, or a direct message or a mention of you in Staff Chat. On unless you turn it off, and you hear it once when you turn it back on.
The community's Replies and Likes are chosen in the community's own bell. See Know when somebody answers you in the community.
Your block list
At the bottom of Privacy & Notifications, select Block list to see the people you've blocked in the app. They can't message you, invite you to a school or share a planner with you, and they aren't told. Select Unblock beside a name to let them reach you again, or Back to return to your settings.
You block someone from a direct message's menu in Staff Chat, with Decline and block on a Staff Chat invitation, or with Remove and block on a planner shared with you. The community keeps its own list. See Know when somebody answers you in the community.
Good to know
Account emails, such as your welcome, receipts and password resets, always send, whatever these switches say. Your choices belong to your account, so they apply on every device.
