Fill in student names from a roster

Fill a whole column with your students' names in one step, starting at the line you choose and skipping students already on the page.

  1. Click the empty line in a student-name column where you want the names to start. On a phone, tap it.
  2. At the top of the list that opens, select the Fill option. It says how many names it will add and from which roster, for example Fill 22 from Period 3.
  3. The empty lines from there down fill with your students, in the same order as on your roster.

More than one class? Above the Fill option, Fill from shows the classes this planner fills from. To add one, select + and pick it from your other rosters: it is added to this planner only, and selected. Select a class to fill from it: the option changes to match, for example Fill 18 from Period 5. The one you select stays selected while the planner is open, so a second column carries on with the same class.

To take a class out, select Edit: the classes turn red, each with an X next to its name. Select one to take it out of this planner, then select Done. Your roster itself stays as it is.

Students already on the page are skipped. On a class list with two columns, fill the first column, then the second: the second carries on with the students who didn't fit in the first.

If you click partway down a column, the option ends with starting here. If there are more students than empty lines, it says how many will not fit.

When there's nothing to fill

  • Everyone from Period 3 is already on this page: every student is already there.
  • No empty lines left for Period 3: the column is full.
  • No empty lines from here down. Click a higher line to fill from there.

Good to know

A new planner starts with no class in Fill from: select Add a class first. A planner you already had starts with one: the first roster you made that has students in it, the lowest of those in the Roster Manager.
