Staff Chat plans: more people and storage for a server

Every server starts on Free: up to 10 people, files up to 25 MB, and 2 GB of server storage for the photos and files sent on it. For more, the server's owner buys a plan, a yearly subscription that powers one server.

Plans come in three sizes, Small, Medium and Large, for up to 30, 100 and 500 people, each with bigger files and more server storage. The plan picker shows what each one costs a year.

Buy a plan for a server

1. 1Open the server's Server Settings with the gear beside its name, and select Plan.
2. 2Select Upgrade.
3. 3Under Buy a new plan, select Choose beside a size, and pay on Stripe's secure page.
4. 4Back in Staff Chat, the server has its new size.

You can pay first when you start a server: on the last step of Create a Server, select Change beside Plan. A plan of yours that powers no server is listed under Available plans, with Use this plan.

Change size

On Plan, the owner selects Change size. A bigger size is paid for today, for the rest of the year, on the plan's card. A smaller size is credited on your next bill, and is offered only when everyone in the server fits it. In the phone app, a bigger size is paid on the web.

Billing, cancelling and read-only

• Manage, on Plan or on the plan's card in Manage Subscriptions, opens Stripe's billing page: your card, invoices and cancelling.
• A cancelled plan runs to the end of its paid year.
• When a plan ends, its server turns read-only for everyone: messages and files can still be read, opened and saved, and nothing new can be sent. Its owner sees Renew.
• A plan One Stop Teacher Shop gave you is free until a date. To keep it after that, open Manage Subscriptions, select Manage on it, then Keep it. Nothing is charged until the free time ends.
