View mode and edit mode: what's the difference?
A planner opens in view mode for reading. Select Edit to write, add pictures and stickers, and change tabs and pages.
A planner opens in view mode, so a stray tap never changes anything. In view mode you can turn pages, jump between tabs, search, zoom, print and share.
To write, select Edit at the top of the planner. On a phone, tap the pencil. When you are finished, select Done (on a phone, the check mark).
What edit mode adds
- A toolbar with Text, Write, Image, Sticker and Attach. On a phone it sits along the bottom.
- Typing into the weekly grid and the Notes box.
- Undo and Redo, at the top left of the page.
- Add tab, and a menu on each tab for changing sections.
- Renaming a row by double-clicking its name, and showing or hiding months.
Tip
If you tap a page in view mode, a reminder says Turn on Edit to write on this page. On a phone, press and hold any icon at the top to see its name.
Good to know
If Edit is greyed out, or you see View only where it would be, see Why is Edit greyed out, or View only?.
