Invite colleagues to your Staff Chat server

A server's admins invite colleagues by email, even before they have an account. They accept in Staff Chat and pick the grades and subjects they teach.

Only a server's admins can invite. Invite a colleague by email address, whether or not they have an account yet.

  1. Open your server and select the gear beside its name to open Server Settings.
  2. Select Members.
  3. Under Invite a teacher, type their email address and select Invite.

They get an email, and a notification in their bell if they already have an account. Members at the bottom of the channel list has the same invite box.

Under the members in Server Settings, every invite still waiting shows its address and the day it was sent. Select Revoke to take one back: its link stops working.

When you're invited

  1. Open Staff Chat. The school that invited you is in your list of schools on the left, with a dashed ring and an orange dot. Select it, or select the invitation in your bell.
  2. Its page shows who invited you and the school's admins. Under What do you teach?, pick the grades and subjects you teach.
  3. Select Accept to join, and the school's chat opens. Select Decline if you don't want to join.

Don't want this person to invite you again? Select the arrow beside Decline, then Decline and block, and confirm. They can't invite you to a school, message you or share a planner with you, and they aren't told. To undo it, see Choose which notifications you get.

Someone without an account signs up with the address the invitation went to, and finds it waiting in Staff Chat.

Good to know

A free server holds up to 10 people, and invites still waiting count toward them. When it's full, its owner can buy a plan for more. See Staff Chat plans. Each person can be in one free server that has other people in it, and can send up to 50 invitation emails a day.

Tip

Don't want to be invited? Turn off Allow Staff Chat invites in Privacy & Notifications. See Choose which notifications you get.
