Copy, cut, paste and delete files with the keyboard
On a computer, select a file, then use Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X and Ctrl+V to copy or move it, and Delete to send it to Recently Deleted.
On a computer, click a file once to select it. Then:
- Ctrl + C copies it. Open a folder and press Ctrl + V to paste a copy there. You can paste the same file again and again.
- Ctrl + X cuts it. Open a folder and press Ctrl + V to move it there.
- Delete or Backspace sends the selected file or folder to Recently Deleted.
- Esc clears the selection.
On a Mac, use Cmd instead of Ctrl.
Good to know
Copying and cutting with the keyboard works for files, not folders: use a folder's ⋮ menu instead. What you copy is only remembered while you stay on the Filing Cabinet page, and it's separate from your computer's own copy and paste.
